Thanksgiving Book Tag 2016

Hello again and Happy Thanksgiving! If you have been with me long enough you’d remember last year I did the original Thanksgiving Book Tag! So after a lot of googling, I found a new one to do this year! So here is the Thanksgiving Book tag 2016 edition!

1. What’s a book cover that reminds you of Thanksgiving(Fall)?

City_of_glass

I know this book isn’t about the fall at all but I really feel like the color scheme fits fall quite well!

2. Which 2 authors are you thankful for?

Just two? I could never just chose two! But I’m really Thankful for J. K. Rowling and Rick Riordan because they created worlds through words that I will never be able to live without anymore!

3. A book you liked but wouldn’t read twice?

This is a good one… I’d have to say The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. I really liked this book but after reading the sequels the whole story got a bit ruined for me.

4. Which 5 fictional characters would you like to have a Thanksgiving dinner with?

Hmmm, this is one that I really need to think about. I’d say:

  1. Jamie Fraser from Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
  2. Cal from Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
  3. Four from Divergent by Veronica Roth
  4. Kai from Cinder by Marissa Meyer
  5. Evan from the 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

5. What is a book that is STUFFED with action?

This was definitely stuffed with action!

6. If you could have any food item from a book served at your table this Thanksgiving, Which would you choose or want?

the_lightning_thief-1

Even you haven’t read this book (But know Greek Mythology) You’d know that ambrosia is one of the best foods (even if it would burn me up.

7. One fall-ish book that others should read for Thanksgiving?

I don’t know any Fall books.

8. What are 2 books that you are thankful for?

  1. Harry Potter. I am thankful for this book (well series) because it was the first chapter book I read and it introduced me to the Bookstagram community!
  2. Cinder by: Marissa Meyer is my second book I’m thankful for. A couple years back (2013 actually) I discovered this book at target and I fell in love! Then last year with my combined love of Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and Cinder I discovered the whole internet community of book lovers and boy am I thankful!

9. Which two books MASHED together would you like to read?

This is tough. Maybe Throne of Glass and The 5th wave because I would love to see Celeana fight Aliens!

10. In general, what are you thankful for this year?

There are so many things I am Thankful for this year. It starts off with my Instagram followers and all of the friends I’ve made. Also, everyone who has stuck with me throughout this whole rough experience with my blog and my slow rise!

Specifically, I would like to thank a couple people from Instagram.

  1. @Authorjenniferlkelly for being my first author friend. I love giving you advice and telling you what I’ve loved about your books! Be sure to check her out and maybe check out her books!
  2. @Jheart_lovesbooks! we haven’t talked much lately but I still love talking to you! You have helped me through the rough start of my book accounts ever since that Read-a-thon a year ago. Once again be sure to check her Instagram and youtube out!

I’ve said it many times before but I am very very thankful for all of you guys! My life would be very different without you!

Book Review: The Sun is Also a Star by: Nicola Yoon

Hello again everyone! I’m back with one of my last book reviews of the year! I’ll probably have about 4 more and a couple more posts but the end of the year is drawing near. But back to what this post is about, The Sun is Also A Star by: Nicola Yoon! I was a big fan of her first book Everything, everything so I was so pumped to read this!

I have to say, this was a lot better than I expected it to be. If you’re friends with me on Goodreads (Link to my profile here) you’d know that I gave this book 4/5 stars. There are many reasons behind this rating so here we go.

spoilers

I loved loved loved this book! Nicola Yoon is such a great author! I found the way she explained both Daniel’s and Natasha’s backstories awesome! It was smart to make it so that as they got to know each other more, the reader learned more also. Any authors out there that are trying to finds better ways to explain a character’s life take notes!  I also found the way she Incorporated diverse characters really smooth unlike some other authors I know (Rick Riordan take notes)!

Then there was the long list of amazing characters! I really liked how Nicola did a great job making you hate charlie and feel bad for Irene. It actually made me a little upset about having to say goodbye to minor characters even though they didn’t affect the story.

I know that I haven’t said much about the plot of the story (It is really amazing!) but I will talk about how the ending absolutely killed me! I knew that It was going to happen from the moment I read the first page. But even so, I wish that it could have turned out different. I wish that Natasha’s life could have gone better and I wish that Daniel’s brother wasn’t an Asshole. I was crying when I made it to the epilogue and after that, I was crying even more. If you liked The Fault in our Stars and Everything, everything, then I highly suggest reading this book! But be ready for the heartbreak it brings.

I hope you liked this review! If you would liked this review be sure to read more reviews from me! Also be sure to check out my Instagram @BLoggingbooknerd ! I hope that you have a fantastic day!

Book Review: The Hammer of Thor by: Rick Riordan

Before I start I just want to say that I’m sorry that it took so long to get this review out! It’s been a few weeks since I finished this book but I just haven’t been able to write a review! Now as you can see by the title I am reviewing The Hammer of Thor by: Rick Riordan.

spoilers

To start off I’m going to talk about the one thing that really REALLY upset me about this book, Loki. Ever since I saw Thor in 2012 I’ve had a love for Loki (and Tom Hiddleston!) and I’ve always seen him as a slightly bad guy (or misunderstood). It was really hard for me to read this book with Loki being an Asshole because of this. I was hoping that he would be similar to how he was in the first book! I guess I’ll just have to deal with Loki being the main villain in this series.

Other than that small detail, I really liked this book! It had an interesting plot, lots of well-characterized characters, and a lot of diversity! Well, the diversity was a bit of a problem. If you’ve read this book you’ll now that there is a new character, Alex. He/She is a gender fluid teenager. I am totally ok with that it’s just that Rick was trying way too hard to include it. It would have been a lot better if he hadn’t just flat out said that he was gender fluid but if he had included some buildup to it.

All in all, I highly suggest reading this book! I have been reading Rick’s books since I was 8 so seeing that he is still writing decent books 8 years later! I hope you liked this review!

Most of the time this would be the end of the post. But a little while ago it was my 1 year anniversary of this blog! I want to thank you all for how far I’ve come! I hope that as I continue growing you guys will stay with me! now it’s time for my usual ending to my posts!

If you would like to see more from me be sure to check out my other posts and my Instagram @bloggingbooknerd! I hope that you are having a fantastic day!
