Book Review: Alex and Eliza by Melissa De La Cruz

Hello, everyone! I’m back after a very very long break (I’m really sorry about that) and I’m here to bring you an actual Book Review! Like any millennial these days I’m a huge fan of the musical Hamilton. So when I heard about a book that told the story of how Alex and Eliza fell in love I was really excited! But to tell you the truth I’m really disappointed.

I hate to say it but this was actually a pretty boring book most of the time. When I think of a romance novel I think of a book with flirting and starting off dating and them falling in love (or at least having this described) so when most of the book was just them being awkward and thinking to themselves how much they love each other I was kinda upset. I wish that they would actually fall in love and get close enough to dating. Yes I understand that it was a completely different time period so dating back then was very different so I guess I had different expectations. It wasn’t until the last 4 chapters that it actually got interesting. So the only thing I suggest is to be prepared for a lot of lulls if you were expecting full on Love story.

Besides that, it was a really good book! That parts that there were sparks of romance were really well written. If the entire book was that way it would have 100% gotten 5 stars. The characters were also pretty well written and weren’t just helpless girl who giggled at the men of the book. They were actual independent women WHO DON’T NEED MEN THEIR PARENTS CHOOSE FOR THEM. Sorry, that made me really happy.

So in conclusion, this is was an ok book. It’s worth the read but you really need to be aware of the things I mentioned above. I hope you liked this review!
