The TBR Book Tag

Hello everyone! As you can tell from the title I am doing the TBR book tag! I haven’t done a book tag in a while and when I saw this one I knew it would be a good choice. So let’s get started shall we?

1. How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I only use Goodreads actually. I also kinda have an idea of what I want to read in my head.

2. Is your TBR mostly print or e-book?

It is almost completely print books actually. I’m not a huge fan of E-Books so I don’t have many on my TBR.

3. How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

That really all depends on A) What mood i’m in B) What I’ve been wanting to read and C) What my deadlines are for books I need to review.

4. A book that has been on your TBR the longest?

We have to go pretty far back to find this out. But according to my Goodreads it is

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I’m actually surprised that this is the book that has been on my TBR the longest! I’ve only had my Goodreads for a year and a half so I guess it should make sense.

5. A book you recently added to your TBR?

A Conjuring of Light by V.E.Schwab

I haven’t read this series yet but with the final book coming out I put it on my TBR to read someday in the future.

6. A book that’s strictly on your TBR because of the cover?

Digging in The Stars by Katherine Blakeney

I’ve never really been interested in this book but that cover is really eye catching to I added it to my TBR.

7. A book on your TBR that you never planned on reading

RoseBlood by A.G.Howard

I’m a huge huge fan of The Phantom of The Opera and when I heard that there was going to be a retelling I got so excited. But after hearing so many mixed reviews about how it wasn’t that great I decided I should just leave it as great idea.

8. A book on your TBR that everyone has read but you

an_ember_in_the_ashes_book_cover

An Ember in The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I am planning to read this someday but everyone else has already read it!

9. A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you

Refer back to question 8 actually.

10. A book on your TBR you are dying to read

I guess question 8 is just very relevant right now when it comes to these questions…

11. How many books are on your Goodreads TBR?

As of right now  I have 305 books on my TBR but it changes everyday when I finish books and add books. Maybe someday i’ll get that number under 200!

Well that’s the tag! Be sure to check out the other tags I’ve done! If you would like to see more from me  be sure to check out my Instagram @Bloggingbooknerd! I hope that you have a fantastic rest of your day!

Book review: The Earth Key by: Jennifer L. Kelly

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the first review of 2017 on my blog! As you can tell by the title I am going to be reviewing The Earth Key by the wonderful Jennifer L. Kelly! Let’s get right into it!

*I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review*

spoilers

What a great sequel! You don’t get many of these in a lifetime! Of course, it did have some flaws as all books do. But the only thing I had a big problem with was that there were a lot of parts that didn’t seem to be that important or could have been shortened. That was really the only bad part!

Now that I’ve got the bad stuff out of the way why don’t I get to the good stuff, and boy is there a lot! To begin with, there is Ka’s mother. I can almost guarantee that most people were surprised by this. I never would have guessed that it would happen from the way the first book went. It was an amazing plot twist to keep a series that could drag on with the same goal in all 5 books. I always liked her mom as a character and knowing that she gave up so much for love makes me respect her even more!

But with a good character, there is always a bad character. I know it may seem weird to you but I actually didn’t love Ka’s father. It may be that he wasn’t characterized much during the first book but then was a very important character in this book. I don’t know if it is me being picky or a decent problem.

I could go on and on about how amazing the plot is but I don’t want to spoil it too much for you! Go read it! Go read this series! This is one of my favorite books so far! I’m going to be counting down the days till the next book (59 days!).

I hope you liked this review! Be sure to check out more of my reviews! If you would like to see more from me be sure to check out my Instagram @Bloggingbooknerd! I hope that you are having a wonderful day! and have a wonderful weekend!

My Favorite reads of 2016

With Christmas over and 2017 just around the corner, I’ve had a chance to reflect on my favorite reads of 2016! At the beginning of the year, I set my goal for 30 books and I ended up reading 31! Hopefully, I can do better next year! So here are my favorite reads of 2016.

1. Throne of Glass by: Sarah J. Maas

I had been told that I should read this book for about a year before I actually read this book and I loved it! If you would like to read the full review click here!

2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by: Stephen Chbosky

51GuzoWiFpL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

I had heard a lot of things about this book before I had the chance to read it, some good, some bad. But in the end, the story and the all of the characters made it so I couldn’t put it down until I had completely finished it. If you would like to read the full review click here!

3. Fangirl by: Rainbow Rowell

16068905

I’m sensing a similar theme that I heard a lot about these books before I read them. But I never knew I could relate to a character in so many ways! I would love being the Cath to someone’s Levi.

4. Dan and Phil Go Outside by: Dan Howell and Phil Lester

dap-gooutside_bookmark

The main reason this is on my list is because I love Dan and Phil and having them write books makes them an even bigger part of my life. That is actually one of the few books that are not on my bookshelf. It’s on my bedside table.

5.Hamilton the Revolution by: Lin Manuel-Miranda and Jeremy McCarter

26200563

This is another one of those books that are on this list because it’s a big part of my life. I assume most of you have listened to Hamilton so I highly suggest reading this because it really shows the who process of how this amazing musical came to be. I highly suggest reading it.

6. The Art of Racing in the Rain by: Garth Stein

download (13)

Now, when it comes to books I don’t cry (besides The Fault in Our Stars) but I bawled while reading this book. It was also one of the very few times I reached out of the Young Adult genre and I’m really happy I did. I hope to read more by Garth in the future. If you would like to read the full review click here!

7. Everything, Everything by: Nicola Yoon

book_cover

This was actually my first read of the year and I couldn’t have chosen a better book. It was really interesting seeing how serious illnesses affect people’s lives and the risks people would take for love. If you would like to read the full review click here!

Well, those are my favorite reads of 2016. I hope that 2017 is just as good if not better! Be sure to check out my other post! If you would also like to see more from me be sure to check out my Instagram @Bloggingbooknerd! I hope that you had a great Christmas and have an even better rest of 2016!

The Christmas Song Book Tag

Hello everyone! With Christmas 2 weeks away I thought I could do another Christmas book tag! So let’s get started!!

1) “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch” – Name a villainous character you couldn’t help but love.

This one is actually really hard because Loki has always been my favorite Villain but in the Magnus Chase and the gods of Asgard series Loki is the terrible villain that he is supposed to be. So I really have a love-hate relationship with him.

2)”All I Want For Christmas Is You” – Which book do you most hope to see under your Christmas tree this year?

51mii4p2yyl-_sx258_bo1204203200_

This has been on my Christmas list for the longest time and I’ve never been able to pick myself up a copy! Hopefully, I will be lucky enough to unwrap it on Christmas day!

3)”Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer” – Name a character that overcomes major obstacles and learns to believe in themselves.

I’d say Cinder from the Lunar Chronicles because her life was rough and she was told to hide the way she was but in the end, she was true to her self.

4)”Santa Clause is Coming to Town” – a) Which character do you think is at the top of the naughty list and b) which character do you think is at the top of the nice list?

A) I think Voldemort would be at the top of anyone’s naughty list

B) I know so many characters that would be on the nice list so I could never choose one!

5)”Frosty the Snowman” – Which book just melts your heart?

The_Fault_in_Our_Stars

I always put this as the book that melts my heart because it is seriously the first book to ever make me cry. If you haven’t read this yet and you love contemporary love stories then this is the book for you and you should read it as soon as possible!

6)”Feliz Navidad” – Pick a book that takes place in a country other than your own.

Outlander-blue-cover-198x300

I have yet to finish this book but how the way Diana describes Scottland makes me want to live there!

7)”It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” – Which Christmas book do you use to spread the Christmas joy.

81pQoNpy7JL.jpg

I just finished this book a couple days ago and it is an amazing Christmas story and I suggest reading it!

8)”Sleigh Ride” – Which character would you choose to spend the holidays with?

I have no clue…. I have way too many people I would love to spend the holiday but I don’t think I could pick one!

9)”Baby It’s Cold Outside” – which book, that you didn’t like, would you sacrifice to a fire to warm yourself up in the cold?

hushhush

I didn’t even need to think about this question, I hated this book and wouldn’t bee upset if it… IDK disappeared…

10)”Do You Hear What I Hear?” – Which book do you think everyone should read?

o-NEW-HARRY-POTTER-COVER-facebook

Even though most people have already read this IF YOU HAVEN’T READ IT!!!!! IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!!

Sorry about that.. but thank you so much for reading this tag! If you would like to see the original here is the link!

If you would like to see more from me be sure to check out my other posts and tags and be sure to follow if you can! Also, be sure to check out my Instagram @Bloggingbooknerd! I hope you’re having a great day and a great holiday season so far!!

December TBR

  • Let It Snow by: John Green
  • The Earth Key by: Jennifer L. Kelly
  • What Light by: Jay Asher
  • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them Original Screenplay by: J.K.Rowling
