The TBR Book Tag

Hello everyone! As you can tell from the title I am doing the TBR book tag! I haven’t done a book tag in a while and when I saw this one I knew it would be a good choice. So let’s get started shall we?

1. How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I only use Goodreads actually. I also kinda have an idea of what I want to read in my head.

2. Is your TBR mostly print or e-book?

It is almost completely print books actually. I’m not a huge fan of E-Books so I don’t have many on my TBR.

3. How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

That really all depends on A) What mood i’m in B) What I’ve been wanting to read and C) What my deadlines are for books I need to review.

4. A book that has been on your TBR the longest?

We have to go pretty far back to find this out. But according to my Goodreads it is

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I’m actually surprised that this is the book that has been on my TBR the longest! I’ve only had my Goodreads for a year and a half so I guess it should make sense.

5. A book you recently added to your TBR?

19186075._SY540_.jpg

A Conjuring of Light by V.E.Schwab

I haven’t read this series yet but with the final book coming out I put it on my TBR to read someday in the future.

6. A book that’s strictly on your TBR because of the cover?

Digging in The Stars by Katherine Blakeney

I’ve never really been interested in this book but that cover is really eye catching to I added it to my TBR.

7. A book on your TBR that you never planned on reading

download (19).jpeg

RoseBlood by A.G.Howard

I’m a huge huge fan of The Phantom of The Opera and when I heard that there was going to be a retelling I got so excited. But after hearing so many mixed reviews about how it wasn’t that great I decided I should just leave it as great idea.

8. A book on your TBR that everyone has read but you

an_ember_in_the_ashes_book_cover

An Ember in The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I am planning to read this someday but everyone else has already read it!

9. A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you

Refer back to question 8 actually.

10. A book on your TBR you are dying to read

I guess question 8 is just very relevant right now when it comes to these questions…

11. How many books are on your Goodreads TBR?

As of right now  I have 305 books on my TBR but it changes everyday when I finish books and add books. Maybe someday i’ll get that number under 200!

Well that’s the tag! Be sure to check out the other tags I’ve done! If you would like to see more from me  be sure to check out my Instagram @Bloggingbooknerd! I hope that you have a fantastic rest of your day!

Book review: The Earth Key by: Jennifer L. Kelly

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the first review of 2017 on my blog! As you can tell by the title I am going to be reviewing The Earth Key by the wonderful Jennifer L. Kelly! Let’s get right into it!

*I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review*

spoilers

What a great sequel! You don’t get many of these in a lifetime! Of course, it did have some flaws as all books do. But the only thing I had a big problem with was that there were a lot of parts that didn’t seem to be that important or could have been shortened. That was really the only bad part!

Now that I’ve got the bad stuff out of the way why don’t I get to the good stuff, and boy is there a lot! To begin with, there is Ka’s mother. I can almost guarantee that most people were surprised by this. I never would have guessed that it would happen from the way the first book went. It was an amazing plot twist to keep a series that could drag on with the same goal in all 5 books. I always liked her mom as a character and knowing that she gave up so much for love makes me respect her even more!

But with a good character, there is always a bad character. I know it may seem weird to you but I actually didn’t love Ka’s father. It may be that he wasn’t characterized much during the first book but then was a very important character in this book. I don’t know if it is me being picky or a decent problem.

I could go on and on about how amazing the plot is but I don’t want to spoil it too much for you! Go read it! Go read this series! This is one of my favorite books so far! I’m going to be counting down the days till the next book (59 days!).

I hope you liked this review! Be sure to check out more of my reviews! If you would like to see more from me be sure to check out my Instagram @Bloggingbooknerd! I hope that you are having a wonderful day! and have a wonderful weekend!

January 2017 TBR

Happy New Years! I’m so happy to be rid of 2016 and everything that happened. But since it is also a new month I need to post my January TBR. Since my reading goal for this year is 50 books I have a longer TBR for this month! Here is my January 2017 TBR!

  1. Heartless by: Marissa Meyer
  2. Crown of Midnight by: Sarah J. Maas
  3. City of Glass by: Cassandra Clare
  4. Six of Crows by: Leigh Bardugo
  5. Replica by: Lauren Oliver

Those are the 5 books I hope to read this month! Hopefully, I will read them all! I hope you liked this post. If you did be sure to check out my other TBRs and reviews! If you would like to see more from me be sure to check out my Instagram @Bloggingbooknerd! I hope you have a fantastic day and an even better start to 2017!

The Christmas Song Book Tag

Hello everyone! With Christmas 2 weeks away I thought I could do another Christmas book tag! So let’s get started!!

1) “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch” – Name a villainous character you couldn’t help but love.

This one is actually really hard because Loki has always been my favorite Villain but in the Magnus Chase and the gods of Asgard series Loki is the terrible villain that he is supposed to be. So I really have a love-hate relationship with him.

2)”All I Want For Christmas Is You” – Which book do you most hope to see under your Christmas tree this year?

51mii4p2yyl-_sx258_bo1204203200_

This has been on my Christmas list for the longest time and I’ve never been able to pick myself up a copy! Hopefully, I will be lucky enough to unwrap it on Christmas day!

3)”Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer” – Name a character that overcomes major obstacles and learns to believe in themselves.

I’d say Cinder from the Lunar Chronicles because her life was rough and she was told to hide the way she was but in the end, she was true to her self.

4)”Santa Clause is Coming to Town” – a) Which character do you think is at the top of the naughty list and b) which character do you think is at the top of the nice list?

A) I think Voldemort would be at the top of anyone’s naughty list

B) I know so many characters that would be on the nice list so I could never choose one!

5)”Frosty the Snowman” – Which book just melts your heart?

The_Fault_in_Our_Stars

I always put this as the book that melts my heart because it is seriously the first book to ever make me cry. If you haven’t read this yet and you love contemporary love stories then this is the book for you and you should read it as soon as possible!

6)”Feliz Navidad” – Pick a book that takes place in a country other than your own.

Outlander-blue-cover-198x300

I have yet to finish this book but how the way Diana describes Scottland makes me want to live there!

7)”It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” – Which Christmas book do you use to spread the Christmas joy.

81pQoNpy7JL.jpg

I just finished this book a couple days ago and it is an amazing Christmas story and I suggest reading it!

8)”Sleigh Ride” – Which character would you choose to spend the holidays with?

I have no clue…. I have way too many people I would love to spend the holiday but I don’t think I could pick one!

9)”Baby It’s Cold Outside” – which book, that you didn’t like, would you sacrifice to a fire to warm yourself up in the cold?

hushhush

I didn’t even need to think about this question, I hated this book and wouldn’t bee upset if it… IDK disappeared…

10)”Do You Hear What I Hear?” – Which book do you think everyone should read?

o-NEW-HARRY-POTTER-COVER-facebook

Even though most people have already read this IF YOU HAVEN’T READ IT!!!!! IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!!

Sorry about that.. but thank you so much for reading this tag! If you would like to see the original here is the link!

If you would like to see more from me be sure to check out my other posts and tags and be sure to follow if you can! Also, be sure to check out my Instagram @Bloggingbooknerd! I hope you’re having a great day and a great holiday season so far!!

Book Review: The Sun is Also a Star by: Nicola Yoon

Hello again everyone! I’m back with one of my last book reviews of the year! I’ll probably have about 4 more and a couple more posts but the end of the year is drawing near. But back to what this post is about, The Sun is Also A Star by: Nicola Yoon! I was a big fan of her first book Everything, everything so I was so pumped to read this!

I have to say, this was a lot better than I expected it to be. If you’re friends with me on Goodreads (Link to my profile here) you’d know that I gave this book 4/5 stars. There are many reasons behind this rating so here we go.

spoilers

I loved loved loved this book! Nicola Yoon is such a great author! I found the way she explained both Daniel’s and Natasha’s backstories awesome! It was smart to make it so that as they got to know each other more, the reader learned more also. Any authors out there that are trying to finds better ways to explain a character’s life take notes!  I also found the way she Incorporated diverse characters really smooth unlike some other authors I know (Rick Riordan take notes)!

Then there was the long list of amazing characters! I really liked how Nicola did a great job making you hate charlie and feel bad for Irene. It actually made me a little upset about having to say goodbye to minor characters even though they didn’t affect the story.

I know that I haven’t said much about the plot of the story (It is really amazing!) but I will talk about how the ending absolutely killed me! I knew that It was going to happen from the moment I read the first page. But even so, I wish that it could have turned out different. I wish that Natasha’s life could have gone better and I wish that Daniel’s brother wasn’t an Asshole. I was crying when I made it to the epilogue and after that, I was crying even more. If you liked The Fault in our Stars and Everything, everything, then I highly suggest reading this book! But be ready for the heartbreak it brings.

I hope you liked this review! If you would liked this review be sure to read more reviews from me! Also be sure to check out my Instagram @BLoggingbooknerd ! I hope that you have a fantastic day!

Book Review: The Hammer of Thor by: Rick Riordan

Before I start I just want to say that I’m sorry that it took so long to get this review out! It’s been a few weeks since I finished this book but I just haven’t been able to write a review! Now as you can see by the title I am reviewing The Hammer of Thor by: Rick Riordan.

spoilers

To start off I’m going to talk about the one thing that really REALLY upset me about this book, Loki. Ever since I saw Thor in 2012 I’ve had a love for Loki (and Tom Hiddleston!) and I’ve always seen him as a slightly bad guy (or misunderstood). It was really hard for me to read this book with Loki being an Asshole because of this. I was hoping that he would be similar to how he was in the first book! I guess I’ll just have to deal with Loki being the main villain in this series.

Other than that small detail, I really liked this book! It had an interesting plot, lots of well-characterized characters, and a lot of diversity! Well, the diversity was a bit of a problem. If you’ve read this book you’ll now that there is a new character, Alex. He/She is a gender fluid teenager. I am totally ok with that it’s just that Rick was trying way too hard to include it. It would have been a lot better if he hadn’t just flat out said that he was gender fluid but if he had included some buildup to it.

All in all, I highly suggest reading this book! I have been reading Rick’s books since I was 8 so seeing that he is still writing decent books 8 years later! I hope you liked this review!

Most of the time this would be the end of the post. But a little while ago it was my 1 year anniversary of this blog! I want to thank you all for how far I’ve come! I hope that as I continue growing you guys will stay with me! now it’s time for my usual ending to my posts!

If you would like to see more from me be sure to check out my other posts and my Instagram @bloggingbooknerd! I hope that you are having a fantastic day!
